American Bitcoin's second-quarter net loss widened to $57.2 million as the bitcoin price fell, yet the miner still grew its treasury to 8,002 coins and pushed mining revenue to $67 million. Shares of the Trump family-linked company rose after the results landed Monday.
American Bitcoin (NASDAQ: ABTC) posted a $57.2 million net loss for the second quarter of 2026, compared with a $3.4 million profit in the same period last year. Despite the loss, its stock traded over 5% higher Monday afternoon in New York after the company revealed its crypto holdings had grown.
Treasury reserve climbs to 8,002 bitcoin
The company expanded its treasury to 8,002 bitcoin as of June 30, up from roughly 7,021 bitcoin at the end of March. That growth came even as average bitcoin prices fell about 12% during the quarter. The reserve is now worth over $510.6 million at current prices. That makes American Bitcoin the 16th largest Bitcoin treasury according to Bitcoin Treasuries data.
Record production drives revenue higher
Mining revenue reached $67 million, up 8% from $62.1 million in the first quarter. The company mined a record 932 bitcoin, a 14% increase from 817 bitcoin in the prior quarter. It held gross margins near 50%. Revenue per bitcoin mined averaged $71,900 against a $36,500 average cost to mine.
Fleet expansion lifts hash rate
American Bitcoin fully energized 11,298 next-generation miners in April at Hut 8's Drumheller facility, adding 3.05 exahashes per second of hash rate. By quarter's end the company owned 89,242 miners representing about 28.1 EH/s of total potential capacity. Its active fleet of 58,999 miners delivered 25 EH/s.
Eric Trump, the company's co-founder and chief strategy officer, said: "Our conviction in Bitcoin remains absolute, and our goal is simple". Unlike a number of publicly traded miners that have pivoted to high-powered computing for the artificial intelligence industry, American Bitcoin has kept its focus on mining and holding the coin on its balance sheet.
