Anthropic's IPO prospectus shows compute and infrastructure obligations that could reach $567 billion. Caterpillar, Bloom Energy and GE Vernova supply power equipment for data centers, though none is confirmed as an Anthropic supplier.
Anthropic's prospectus for its planned initial public offering puts a price on competing in AI. The company had about $417 billion in future compute and infrastructure payment obligations as of Dec. 31, 2025.
Add $125 billion to $150 billion in estimated spending for additional computing capacity, and the total reaches $542 billion to $567 billion.
Caterpillar sells backup power and heavy equipment
Much of that money will go to cloud providers and chipmakers. Data centers also need buildings and power equipment, and Motley Fool names three industrial companies in that supply chain.
Caterpillar supplies diesel and natural gas generators that keep facilities running when the grid can't. Its excavators and bulldozers can also take part in data center construction. Management expects strong third-quarter growth in its power and energy segment, driven partly by power generation.
Bloom Energy reports revenue up 138%
Bloom Energy makes solid oxide fuel cells that generate electricity on-site, so a data center need not wait for a grid connection. Its third-quarter revenue was $1.24 billion, up 138% from a year ago.
Operating income rose to $225.4 million from $7.8 million, while gross margin improved to 33.8%. Management also raised its full-year revenue outlook to between $4.4 billion and $4.6 billion.
GE Vernova's turbine backlog grows
GE Vernova supplies gas turbines and electrical equipment, including transformers, substations and transmission equipment. In the second quarter, orders reached $24.2 billion, an 88% organic increase from a year earlier.
Its gas power equipment backlog and slot reservation agreements rose to 116 gigawatts, and management projected at least 125 GW by year-end. However, not all of those orders relate to AI, because utilities are also replacing aging equipment and meeting demand from other industries.
Anthropic's planned spending does not mean Caterpillar, Bloom Energy or GE Vernova will receive contracts from the company, according to Motley Fool.
