ASML's chief financial officer says the company opposes a US Congress proposal to limit its DUV lithography equipment sales to China. He argues the Match Act would speed up China's own development of rival technology.
ASML's CFO said on Wednesday that the company opposes a US Congress proposal to limit its sales of DUV lithography equipment to China, calling it a bad idea. ASML is a top computer chip equipment manufacturer.
Speaking to reporters on a call after the company's third-quarter earnings, CFO Roger Dassen said that if the Match Act passes after the US midterm elections, it would accelerate China's domestic development of rival technology.
Dassen added that he was optimistic that common sense would prevail.
