Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, has partnered with Galaxy Digital to let customers trade Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana starting in early 2027. The service will run through the bank's Leumi Trade app, and the companies say it will make Leumi the first Israeli bank to offer digital asset trading.
Bank Leumi and Galaxy Digital announced Friday a partnership that will let Leumi customers buy, hold, and sell Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana directly through the bank's investment app. The service is expected to launch in early 2027.
First bank in Israel to offer crypto trading
Customers of Leumi and its mobile banking arm, Pepper, will access the three cryptocurrencies through a dedicated section of the Leumi Trade app. Leumi and Galaxy said the rollout would make Leumi the first Israeli bank to offer digital asset trading services to customers. Bank Leumi first announced plans to debut crypto trading in 2022 but shelved the initiative.
Leumi will use GalaxyOne Institutional, Galaxy's institutional trading platform for banks and asset managers, while Galaxy's custody infrastructure platform, formerly known as GK8, will support the bank's digital asset operations. Bank Leumi's Head of Strategy, Maya Ravia, said the bank sees "digital assets are gradually becoming an integral part of the global financial system" in a statement announcing the deal.
Galaxy posted a loss but grew its digital assets business
The partnership comes after Galaxy reported an $85 million net loss in the second quarter, which it attributed largely to declining digital asset prices. Despite the loss, its digital assets business generated $66 million in adjusted gross profit, up 34% from the previous quarter.
Galaxy Digital, founded and led by Mike Novogratz, began trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker GLXY in May 2025. Its shares were trading at $21.38 on Friday morning, up about 2% on the day but down roughly 25% over the past year, according to Yahoo Finance data.
