U.S. bitcoin and ether ETFs lost roughly $965 million combined over Wednesday and Thursday, with Fidelity leading bitcoin redemptions and BlackRock driving ether's eighth straight day of outflows. Bitcoin fell more than 4% over the past week to trade below $82,800, while XRP and NEAR funds kept pulling in fresh capital.
Bitcoin ETFs followed Wednesday's heavy withdrawal with another $244.13 million exit on Thursday, pushing combined bitcoin and ether outflows to roughly $965 million across two sessions. Even so, bitcoin's price barely moved, trading between $81,500 and $83,000 during the stretch.
Fidelity Leads Bitcoin's Thursday Redemptions
Fidelity's FBTC accounted for most of the selling, shedding $197.09 million, while Ark and 21Shares' ARKB, Bitwise's BITB, and Grayscale's GBTC posted smaller redemptions. Overall trading value jumped to $3.81 billion across the funds, while net assets fell to $104.91 billion. The exit followed an even larger one a day earlier, when BlackRock's IBIT alone shed $207.7 million of Wednesday's total. Five-day net outflows reached $512.4 million, though the 21-day window remained modestly positive.
As of this writing, bitcoin's price is down more than 4% over the last week, recently trading below $82,800.
Ether's Losing Streak Reaches Eight Sessions
Ether funds lost $72.54 million on Thursday, extending their withdrawal streak to eight sessions. BlackRock's ETHA again carried most of the pressure with a $71.12 million exit, while Grayscale's ETHE, 21Shares' TETH, and Vaneck's ETHV also posted redemptions. Fidelity's FETH and Morgan Stanley's MSSE were the exceptions, attracting $5.50 million and $1.32 million respectively. Trading activity climbed to $1.92 billion across the ETH funds, while net assets fell to $15.64 billion.
Ether's price has dropped more than 9% over the last seven days to a recent price near $2,485.
XRP and NEAR Resist the Broader Pressure
Some capital kept finding opportunities further down the market. XRP funds attracted $8.17 million, entirely through Franklin's XRPZ. Bitwise's NEAR ETF, NRR, added $4.04 million on Thursday, with net assets closing at $59.86 million, representing roughly 1% of NEAR's market capitalization. Solana funds, by contrast, posted a fourth consecutive day of withdrawals, losing $3.32 million.
The retreat lines up with a tougher backdrop outside crypto, where oil prices and Treasury yields have been rising while the dollar has strengthened.
