US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs pulled in a combined $492 million on August 21, marking a fifth straight day of net inflows for both groups. BlackRock's IBIT and ETHA led their respective categories, while weekly totals reached $1.92 billion for Bitcoin funds and $697 million for Ethereum funds.

US spot Bitcoin and spot Ethereum ETFs added a combined $492 million in net inflows for the August 21 session, according to Farside Investors data. The session extended a positive flow streak that now spans five consecutive trading days for both crypto ETF cohorts.

Bitcoin leads, Ethereum keeps pace

Spot Bitcoin ETFs added $307 million. BlackRock's IBIT led that category with $239.3 million. Spot Ethereum ETFs brought in another $185 million. BlackRock's ETHA led that category with $151 million of the total. Bitcoin led the day, but Ethereum's inflow was large enough to show that investors were not limiting themselves to the simplest crypto allocation.

BlackRock led both ETF groups, reinforcing its role as a dominant institutional gateway in the crypto ETF market. Scale attracts more scale: larger funds tend to offer deeper liquidity, tighter spreads, and stronger distribution, which can keep pulling in flows even as competitors fight for attention.

Five-day streak, but daily and weekly figures differ

Five consecutive positive sessions across both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs is harder to dismiss than a single strong day. It suggests investors were adding exposure consistently rather than making a one-off allocation, though flow streaks can end quickly.

Weekly inflows reached $1.92 billion for Bitcoin ETFs. Ethereum ETFs added $697 million over the same week. These weekly totals should not be confused with the single-session figure above, nor with cumulative assets under management — daily flows show immediate demand, weekly flows show momentum, and cumulative assets show longer-term product scale.

The next test is whether inflows continue as price volatility returns. Traders will also watch whether the spot Ethereum ETF category keeps pace with Bitcoin, since strong ETH flows can support DeFi and staking activity alongside the larger institutional Bitcoin product.
