U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $998.95 million on Monday, their largest single-day inflow of 2026, as bitcoin held above $86,000. Ether, solana and HYPE funds also drew fresh capital, while GameStop's covered-call position on 2,000 BTC faces a Friday test now that the rally has pushed well past its $70,000 strike.
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs attracted $998.95 million in net inflows on Monday, their largest single-day haul of 2026, extending a three-session inflow streak as bitcoin traded above $86,000.
BlackRock's IBIT Leads a Record Session
BlackRock's IBIT led the day with $381.37 million, followed by Ark & 21Shares' ARKB at $289.12 million and Fidelity's FBTC at $238.84 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT added $61.67 million and Bitwise's BITB brought in $21.56 million, while no fund recorded an outflow.
Daily trading value across bitcoin ETFs reached $4.57 billion, and net assets climbed by more than $8 billion to $110.14 billion. Ether ETFs also gained, pulling in $269.98 million across eight funds led by BlackRock's ETHA at $110.06 million and Fidelity's FETH at $72.96 million. Solana funds added $26.10 million, with Bitwise's BSOL accounting for $14.44 million of the total, while HYPE ETFs added $2.82 million as HYPE's price hit an all-time high.
Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart estimated the average bitcoin ETF holder's cost basis at roughly $81,722 per BTC, below Monday's price, putting the average holder back in unrealized gains for the first time since January.
Bitcoin Holds Above Its Former Resistance
Bitcoin surged nearly 7% on Monday, reaching a high of $87,374, before easing to trade near $85,980. The rally pushed price above a swing area between $81,517 and $82,833 that had acted as resistance since February 2026, turning that former ceiling into a support zone that now defines the risk for buyers.
The 38.2% retracement at $83,916 is the first level traders are watching on any pullback, measured from the decline between October 2025's high near $126,272 and June's low near $57,737. Clearing $86,117 and holding above it would put Monday's $87,374 high back in focus, with $90,554 and the 50% retracement at $92,003 as the next targets.
GameStop's Covered Calls Face a Friday Test
GameStop's covered-call position faces a key test Friday. A Sept. 9 filing disclosed contracts tied to roughly 2,000 BTC with a $70,000 strike price and maturities extending through Sept. 25.
Bitcoin was trading around $85,662 on Sept. 22, more than $15,000 above that strike. The position could cap roughly $31.3 million in potential upside across the covered 2,000 BTC if the calls remain open through expiration. GameStop has not disclosed whether it still holds the calls or has since closed or rolled them, and the filing only confirms the position was open as of Aug. 1.
