Bitcoin settled at $76,000 as the weekend began, despite the resumed attacks between the US and Iran. The calm follows an intense business week with major price moves.
Bitcoin steadies after a volatile week
The price fell on October 30 after the hack against Binance, going from $81,000 to $76,000 within an hour or so. A recovery attempt reached only $79,000 on Monday, and another rejection followed.
Volatility continued after the US midterm results. The Democratic sweep sent bitcoin down to $75,600 at first, before it rebounded to $81,000 on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, bitcoin erased all gains and fell under $76,000 alongside Wall Street. On Friday, it slipped below $75,000 for the first time in well over two months.
Buyers then helped bitcoin recover to $76,000 as of press time. The stability over the past 18 hours is rather surprising, CryptoPotato notes, since President Trump confirmed that the US Military has struck Iran.
Bitcoin's market capitalization is down to $1.520 trillion. Its dominance over the altcoins sits inches below 60% on CMC.
ZEC and QNT gain while RAIN and CC drop
Most larger-cap altcoins stayed calm over the past 24 hours. Ethereum is close to $2,250 after a minor increase, and BNB has neared $700. XRP is down to well below the $1.20 support level after a major crash on Friday.
ZEC jumped over 4% to $1,325, the largest rise among the larger caps. QNT tapped $200 again after a 5.3% increase. RAIN and CC, in contrast, are down by roughly 5%.
The total crypto market cap has regained around $50 billion since yesterday's low and is up to $2.550 trillion on CMC.
