Google search interest in Bitcoin has reportedly fallen to a five-year low while BTC trades near $81,000. Robinhood's crypto revenue fell 55% from a year earlier, though its quarterly trading volume rose. Galaxy Research left 55% of Bitcoin's supply unattributed, so retail holdings remain uncounted.
According to Kalshi, Google search interest in Bitcoin has fallen to its lowest level in five years, renewing discussion about retail participation with BTC trading near $81,000. Trader Crypto Kaleo pointed to September 2023 and September 2024 as periods when similarly low search interest coincided with local Bitcoin price bottoms.
Crypto.news previously reported a worldwide Google Trends reading of 20 for October 18–24, against peaks near 100 across the preceding five years.
Robinhood's crypto revenue falls 55% from a year earlier
Robinhood's Oct. 27 earnings release put third-quarter cryptocurrency revenue at $120 million, down 55% from a year earlier. Across its crypto platforms, the company reported $50 billion in quarterly trading volume, down 38% annually.
The quarterly comparison looked different. The earnings presentation showed crypto trading volume rising 23% to $49.8 billion against the previous quarter, and reported crypto revenue climbed 20% from $100 million.
Smaller wallets keep sending Bitcoin to Binance
CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost found that inflows from retail-sized wallets to Binance had reached a six-month high. According to his analysis, the 30-day cumulative value of those deposits moved from approximately $5.5 billion to $10.75 billion.
Darkfost's observations concerned transfers into an exchange, while Robinhood's earnings measured trading and revenue over a completed quarter. Neither dataset provided a count of people who had stopped searching for Bitcoin on Google.
Galaxy cannot say how much Bitcoin retail investors hold
Galaxy Research's October ownership snapshot left approximately 11.1 million BTC without an attributed owner, representing 55% of supply. Galaxy research head Alex Thorn suggested that individuals managing personal wallets could account for a substantial portion of those holdings.
The research did not establish a verified division between retail investors, unidentified institutions, and inaccessible coins.
