U.S. bitcoin ETFs pulled in $174.60 million on Friday even as bitcoin's price slipped back below $80,000. Blackrock's IBIT led the inflows, while ether and HYPE funds also gained ground and solana ETFs saw outflows. A stronger-than-expected jobs report added fresh uncertainty over the Federal Reserve's next move on rates.

U.S. bitcoin ETFs drew $174.60 million in net inflows on Friday, even as bitcoin's price slipped back below $80,000. Blackrock's IBIT led the group, taking in $117.38 million, while Fidelity's FBTC added $57.22 million.

ETF demand holds despite the price retreat

Trading value across the bitcoin ETF group reached $2.95 billion, with net assets closing at $101.25 billion. The flow stood out because the bitcoin price had already slipped back below $80,000 after breaking above the level a day earlier.

Despite that pullback, ETF demand held up. Blackrock's IBIT has now attracted $3.575 billion over the past 30 days, reinforcing its position as the dominant institutional gateway to bitcoin.

Ether and HYPE return to inflows, solana slips

Ether ETFs recorded $26.46 million in net inflows, though individual funds moved sharply in opposite directions. Blackrock's ETHA brought in $57.79 million and ETHB added $16.44 million, but Fidelity's FETH saw $48.30 million leave the fund, cutting into the day's gains.

HYPE ETFs returned to positive territory after two flat sessions, with Bitwise's BHYP capturing the full $10.52 million inflow. Solana ETFs moved the other way: the group lost $5.21 million, including $2.79 million from Bitwise's BSOL and $2.41 million from Fidelity's FSOL. XRP ETFs recorded no net flows.

Strong payrolls put rates back in focus

Nonfarm payrolls rose by 162,000 in August, well above forecasts for 56,000. Unemployment held at 4.1%, while average hourly earnings increased 3.1% from a year earlier.

President Donald Trump said the figures had "far exceeded all expectations" and renewed his call for lower interest rates. The stronger labor data pushed markets to reassess the Federal Reserve's September outlook, leaving rate expectations back in focus after a week of strong ETF demand.
