Cardano fell 2.04% to $0.219 over 24 hours, extending its weekly decline to 11%.
The broader market consolidated slightly, with total capitalization near $2.73 trillion. A rebound above $0.30 remains uncertain after the daily and weekly declines.
Leios release candidate reaches 52% completion
Cardano's Ouroboros Leios release candidate has reached 52% completion, according to an update shared by Cardanians. The post reported 28 updates during the last week.
The completed objectives include the improvement proposal, the technical specification, a 1,000 TPS showcase and the Leios testnet. The dashboard shows confidence testing at 45%, while the hard fork objective stands at 0%.
Leios would raise transaction capacity on Cardano while keeping security, through more blocks and committee validation. However, a developer will need to do additional testing and integration before mainnet deployment. Activations also require audits, ecosystem coordination and governance approval, and the source gave no confirmed launch date.
ADA tests $0.22 as indicators stay bearish
ADA traded at $0.2199 on October 17, as Cardano tested the $0.22 area. The MACD line sat at -0.0042, under its -0.0040 signal line, with the histogram at -0.0002. Both lines were below zero, a bearish reading that does not show how far the price could fall.
Continued trading under $0.22 poses greater downside risk, and further weakness would put $0.21 in focus, with $0.20 as a potential second target. On the upside, reclaiming $0.22 would leave $0.23 as the first recovery goal, and a four-hour high above $0.23 may open a trade toward $0.25.
Open interest rises as trading volume falls
Cardano derivatives trading volume decreased 8.99% to $324.55 million, while open interest rose 1.26% to $487.18 million. Options volume fell 92.94% to $6,590, the largest percentage decrease among the reported indicators.
Options open interest declined 0.27% to $374,920.
