Two S&P 500 components led the stock market's premarket gainers on Tuesday: Constellation Energy and Option Care Health, each jumping on separate corporate news, while a cluster of analyst upgrades pushed several other large-cap names higher ahead of the open.
Google's nuclear deal lifts Constellation Energy
Constellation Energy jumped more than 6% premarket after Alphabet announced a long-term power agreement with the utility. Google will buy power tied to 890 megawatts of new nuclear capacity, alongside a separate 2,700-megawatt supply agreement, supporting more than $4.3 billion in new Constellation investment. Alphabet shares themselves rose about 0.5% on the news.
Option Care Health jumps on takeover report
Option Care Health shares surged more than 20% after the Financial Times reported that McKesson and private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice are in advanced talks to jointly acquire the infusion-services provider. The deal under discussion is valued at more than $5 billion. McKesson stock itself rose 1.5% on the report.
Berkshire builds a Lennar stake, NeoGenomics names new leadership
In a regulatory filing, Berkshire Hathaway disclosed it purchased about 2.4 million shares of Lennar, sending Lennar shares up 1.5% while Berkshire was fractionally higher. NeoGenomics shares rose 5% after the company announced that President and COO Warren Stone will take the helm from Tony Cook in January 2027. The company also flagged preliminary third-quarter revenue of $209 million, topping the $205.9 million consensus estimate, per FactSet.
Analyst calls move AMD, P&G and Corteva
AMD rose nearly 2% after Citi raised its price target to $800, signaling more than 26% upside from Monday's close, pointing to greater CPU demand driven by Meta's Muse AI agent. According to CNBC, Citi said: "AMD will be the primary beneficiary of the CPU renaissance."
Procter & Gamble shares rose 1.2% after Evercore ISI upgraded the stock to outperform and raised its price target to $166 from $161, implying about 14% upside from Monday's close. Corteva shares climbed nearly 3% after JPMorgan upgraded the stock to overweight, with a $19 price target implying 53% upside, citing a sharper focus on crop chemicals and improving agricultural commodity prices.
