Hyperliquid (HYPE) exchange-traded funds pulled in more money than XRP ETFs on a single trading day, even though XRP's market capitalization dwarfs HYPE's. Over the past 30 days, however, XRP still leads HYPE in total institutional demand.
HYPE exchange-traded funds attracted about $24.42 million in one-day net inflows, while XRP ETFs took in $18.47 million over the same stretch. That gap puts HYPE's daily intake about 32% higher than XRP's, an outcome the source calls odd given XRP's far larger market share.
Market caps tell a different story
The comparison looks more striking once market capitalization enters the picture. HYPE is worth about $18.52 billion, while XRP is worth $89.19 billion. Yet HYPE's three listed ETF products pulled in more new capital that day than XRP's five listed ETFs combined. This may be a sign of increased investor demand for higher-beta exposure in the wake of the wider cryptocurrency rebound.
Price action backs that reading. HYPE reached about $86 before pulling back to trade at $83.20, continuing a breakout that started at $57 earlier this month. The token remains well above its major moving averages and has already moved decisively past earlier highs near $75. But the trade has gotten crowded from a technical standpoint: HYPE's RSI sits at about 74, with its closest short-term moving average roughly $69.30 away from the current price.
XRP's longer-term lead holds
XRP, meanwhile, shows a different setup. After an explosive rally from about $1.00 and a rejection near $1.70, the asset now trades around $1.42. XRP remains above its long-term moving average at $1.35, though momentum has clearly slowed.
Longer-term ETF flows add context. Over the past 30 days, XRP has drawn about $141.61 million, and $1.64 billion in total. HYPE's 30-day total is $51.24 million, with a cumulative total of $343.48 million. As a result, HYPE has not surpassed XRP in overall institutional demand, since the $24.42 million versus $18.47 million gap represents only one day's flows.
Still, the daily reversal is notable. Risk appetite appears to be growing beyond established large-cap cryptocurrency exposure, as investors currently show willingness to put meaningful capital into the smaller and more volatile HYPE market.
