TRON founder Justin Sun says he sold most of his Ether and put the proceeds into US stocks, mainly technology. He kept his Bitcoin untouched in cold wallets and says he will not buy the Ether back.
Justin Sun sold most of his Ethereum and moved into US equities. In an interview on October 17, 2026, the TRON founder said he had cut nearly 80-90% of his aggressive ETH positions. Most of the selling happened in the $3,600-$4,000 range, and the proceeds went mainly into US equities with a heavy tilt toward technology.
What Sun sold, kept, and bought
Sun said he now holds just 20% of his original ETH as what he calls a base asset. He also said he has no plans to buy back what he sold.
The split reflects how he sorts risk. Sun views ETH as an aggressive asset and Bitcoin as a foundational one, and he said his core BTC position remains unchanged in cold wallets. He tied that security choice to ongoing concerns about risks from quantum computing and AI algorithms.
On the equity side, NVIDIA is his main US equity position, and he has not reduced it, owing to the chipmaker's prominence in AI. Sun also holds a substantial allocation to the Nasdaq 100, and he has no exposure to A-shares.
A bullish buyer with bearish views
Yet Sun described his outlook on the Nasdaq 100 as slightly bearish. His concerns center on capital concentration and rising interest rates.
Despite those worries, he has not taken any short positions. He is optimistic about AI applications and Web3, but cautious about traditional hardware sectors.
What on-chain data showed before the interview
Before his public disclosures, on-chain data indicated his overall holdings exceeded $2.25 billion. That data also pointed to positions in Bitcoin and stETH, Lido's liquid staking token.
The interview largely confirmed what blockchain watchers could already piece together. Whether his on-chain activity matches his stated plan not to repurchase ETH is next to watch, and public wallets make that easy to verify.
