Ledger unveiled Atom, an Android device with a separate Secure Mode for signing transactions, while it investigates modified wallets sold through a reseller. The device will carry Solana Mobile's Seeker app and new anti-tampering protections. Ledger expects deliveries to begin in summer 2027.
Ledger unveiled an Android device called Atom at its Op3n event in Paris on Thursday. The launch adds new tamper protections while the company investigates unauthorized modifications to its existing hardware wallets sold through third-party resellers.
Atom pricing and shipping
Atom's limited Founder's Edition costs $849, with a $100 fully refundable deposit required to reserve one. Regular orders will cost $899 after launch, while Ledger's current hardware wallet suite ranges from $69 to $399.
Ledger expects deliveries to begin in summer 2027, pending certification. The device switches automatically between Standard and Secure Mode, and transactions are reviewed and signed in Secure Mode.
Solana Mobile's Seeker app and AI agents
Solana Mobile's Seeker app is also coming to Atom. In a statement shared with The Block, Solana Mobile said the app would combine its wallet and dApp Store into one app, with signing handled by Secure Mode.
Ledger also plans to bring its Agent Intent system to Atom. The system would let users review transactions proposed by AI agents without giving the agents access to private keys.
Tamper protections follow the CryptoBilis incident
The launch comes amid Ledger's investigation into modified wallets sold through its CryptoBilis reseller in Southeast Asia. Onchain researchers have linked the incident to more than $86 million in suspected losses, although Ledger has not confirmed the total.
Ledger said Atom will detect attempts to remove its screen or enclosure. The company has not yet confirmed how the unauthorized hardware came to be installed in the affected devices.
The company has also changed its rules for sellers. According to crypto.news, retailers must stop placing Ledger devices on display shelves and counters and hand them to customers only when a purchase takes place.
