Nasdaq futures rebounded roughly 4% on Thursday but stalled Friday, closing at 28,287 in a doji candle below the monthly value area and the anchored VWAP. That setup points to a possible pullback toward 27,885 in the next session, with 27,000 as a deeper downside level should sellers keep control.

Nasdaq futures ended Friday's session with a doji candle at 28,287, sitting below both the monthly value area low near 28,317 and the anchored VWAP around 28,550. The close leaves Thursday's sharp rebound looking incomplete rather than confirmed.

Thursday's rally lost momentum

Nasdaq futures had climbed nearly 4% from open to close on Thursday, a move that briefly revived hopes of a bullish reversal. Friday, however, brought no follow-through. Instead, price opened near 28,317 and closed at 28,287, forming a doji that shows neither buyers nor sellers held control through the session.

Location matters here as much as the candle shape. Friday's high retested the underside of a previously broken rising channel, an area that can act as resistance after a prior breakdown. Price reached that zone, failed to hold above it, and closed back below.

Levels that define the coming week

The leading scenario now points to a retracement toward roughly 27,885 on the next daily session, a level sitting just above the midpoint of Thursday's advance. Sustained trade below Friday's low near 28,080 would add confirmation to that path. Should selling extend further, the 27,000 round number and the 26,775 standard-deviation support stand as deeper targets.

On the upside, the 28,317 to 28,550 zone remains the main resistance, followed by Friday's high and the broken channel near 28,665 to 28,725. Buyers need to reclaim 28,550 and hold above Friday's high to weaken the bearish retracement case.

Burden of proof stays with buyers

A brief intraday push above VWAP would not be enough on its own. The bearish case would only weaken if buyers reclaim 28,317 and establish acceptance above 28,550, then defend a pullback and close back inside the broken channel. Until that happens, the burden of proof remains with the bulls.
