Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is rejecting claims that the company has moved away from XRP, after a critical post from a commentator spread through the XRP community. The commentator argues that Ripple's push into other products has not helped the token's price.
A highly emotional post aimed at Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and CTO Emeritus David Schwartz has stirred up tensions in the XRP community after several other accounts reposted it. The criticism reflects a concern among some holders that Ripple's expansion into stablecoins, treasury products and institutional finance has not translated into stronger demand or price performance for XRP.
The post came from an XRP commentator known on X as Fiduciary Ledger 17. The commentator accused Ripple's leadership of benefiting from years of community support while allegedly diminishing XRP's economic importance in favor of RLUSD and other enterprise products. The commentator also claimed the community deserves to see XRP reach $15-$20 or more.
However, the source notes that these claims are the commentator's own views and carry no evidence that Ripple has deliberately suppressed XRP's price.
Still, the frustration points to a gap between corporate news and market performance. Ripple has announced partnerships with Coinbase, Robinhood, BNY, Standard Chartered and other major institutions, while RLUSD has expanded across different markets. XRP, meanwhile, trades 66% below its all-time high from July last year.
Garlinghouse has repeatedly rejected the idea that Ripple abandoned XRP. At Swell 2026, he called XRP the company's "North Star" and said Ripple wants to pursue only initiatives that benefit the asset. He also acknowledged that XRP will not necessarily be the best tool for every transaction, because fiat or RLUSD sometimes make more sense depending on the use case.
