Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse appeared alongside U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at Swell 2026 in New York. The appearance follows Ripple's final OCC approval for a national trust bank and expanded collaborations with BNY and Robinhood.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse appeared alongside U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at the company's Swell 2026 conference in New York City, drawing considerable attention from the XRP community. Bessent was reportedly added to the speaker lineup shortly before the event.
Bessent presses Congress on crypto rules
Bessent has emerged as one of the Trump administration's most vocal supporters of a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets. He has repeatedly urged Congress to advance the CLARITY Act, arguing that clearer rules would help the United States maintain its competitive position in the cryptocurrency industry.
Ripple and Bessent have met before. In September 2025, Ripple joined a financial industry roundtable at Downing Street attended by Bessent and British Chancellor Rachel Reeves. The talks contributed to a joint UK-U.S. initiative on financial markets and digital assets.
Ripple's bank approval and partnerships
The appearance comes as Ripple has received final approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank, announced on October 26. On October 27, Ripple announced expanded collaborations with BNY and Robinhood.
Who else is speaking
The three-day conference runs from October 27 to 29 at The Shed in Manhattan. Ripple expects more than 1,500 participants and over 100 speakers across three stages.
Actor Matt Damon attends as co-founder of Water.org. He and fellow co-founder Gary White are scheduled to discuss how Ripple's payment infrastructure and RLUSD can support financial inclusion and access to safe water.
Tom Farley, former president of the New York Stock Exchange and current CEO of Bullish, is scheduled to join Garlinghouse for a conversation on the convergence of traditional financial markets and digital assets.
