Solana Mobile has named Ledger its first external hardware partner, bringing its software to Ledger's Atom device. The deal extends Solana Mobile beyond its own Saga and Seeker smartphones, though Atom has not yet been released.
Solana Mobile is expanding beyond branded smartphones through a partnership with hardware wallet maker Ledger. The agreement was announced at Ledger's October event in Paris.
The deal will bring Solana Mobile's Seeker application and access to the Solana dApp Store to Ledger's Atom device. The aim is to give users another way to interact with Solana applications while keeping hardware-level protection for sensitive transactions.
Why the Atom matters
Solana Mobile first tried to make blockchain applications easier to access through the Saga and Seeker phones. Atom is a different category of hardware: it is intended as a security-focused device for managing digital assets and interacting with Web3 applications, not as a conventional cellular smartphone.
Users are expected to access supported applications while approving important transactions through protected signing functionality. As a result, Solana Mobile can extend its software ecosystem without manufacturing every device itself.
A roadmap, not a product on shelves
The partnership specifically concerns the Ledger Atom. It should not be confused with the company's older Nano X hardware wallet or with the Solana Seeker smartphone.
However, Atom's planned release is still ahead. That makes the announcement a partnership and product roadmap rather than evidence that the devices are already widely available to customers.
For Solana, the commercial opportunity is broader distribution of its applications. For Ledger, a blockchain software partner may give customers more reasons to use secure hardware beyond simply storing cryptocurrency.
