Strategy sold 1,690 bitcoin for $108.6 million and used the cash to buy back its STRC preferred stock, cutting its holdings to 840,447 BTC. The same week the company raised $653.1 million from MSTR share sales, pushing its USD reserve to $4.65 billion.

Strategy sold 1,690 bitcoin for approximately $108.6 million between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9, at an average price of $64,262 per bitcoin, according to a Monday 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company then used the proceeds to repurchase 1,152,020 shares of its STRC preferred stock for the same amount. The sale reduced Strategy's holdings to 840,447 BTC, bought for a total of $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385 per bitcoin.

Reserve climbs to $4.65 billion

The company also sold 6,585,682 MSTR shares for $653.1 million last week. It then directed $650 million of the proceeds to its USD reserve, lifting the balance to $4.65 billion as of Aug. 9, and added the remaining $3.1 million to its cash balance.

Following the transactions, Strategy has $785.2 million left under its preferred-stock repurchase program and $1 billion available under its MSTR common-stock buyback. STRC is a variable-rate preferred stock designed to pay monthly dividends.

The sale was Strategy's fourth disclosed bitcoin sale of 2026, bringing its total for the year to 6,948 BTC. Its prior sale involved 1,638 BTC for $104.73 million between July 27 and Aug. 2, when it also used bitcoin proceeds to fund STRC repurchases.

MSTR and STRC shares each rose 0.5% in Monday pre-market trading, with bitcoin changing hands near $65,000.

Saylor separates his own holdings from the company's

Strategy co-founder and Executive Chairman Michael Saylor posted another bitcoin tracker chart to X on Sunday, captioned Doing ₿usiness. His Sunday posts have historically preceded acquisition announcements, but have grown more cryptic in recent weeks as the firm's strategy has varied.

Amid the continued sales, Saylor contrasted his personal stance with the company's. According to a post on X: "Not one satoshi. Strategy is a public company, not my wallet."

Strategy's holdings still represent about 4% of bitcoin's 21 million supply cap, but carry roughly $8.7 billion in paper losses at current prices. MSTR shares remain down around 78%, with an enterprise mNAV of 1.07, according to the company.
