XRP exchange-traded funds pulled in fresh money on Wednesday even as bitcoin funds bled cash for a second straight session. Separately, Ripple CTO David Schwartz said XRP could eventually overtake bitcoin's market cap if it keeps growing faster than the larger coin.
Money kept moving on Wednesday, just not toward bitcoin. XRP funds took in fresh cash for another session, while bitcoin ETFs absorbed a second straight day of redemptions.
XRP Funds Extend Their Inflow Streak
U.S. spot XRP ETFs added $12.29 million on Wednesday, with Bitwise's XRP fund drawing $9.30 million and Grayscale's GXRP adding $2.98 million. Total trading value across XRP funds reached $23.58 million, and net assets closed at $1.51 billion.
The gains extend a broader trend: XRP ETFs have pulled in $185 million over the past 30 days, while XRP itself trades near $1.40.
Bitcoin Funds Bleed as Capital Rotates to Altcoins
Bitcoin ETFs, by contrast, lost $120.24 million on Wednesday, extending outflows to a second session. Ark & 21Shares' ARKB led the selling with a $77.98 million outflow, while Grayscale's GBTC lost $27.22 million and Blackrock's IBIT shed $19.53 million. Morgan Stanley's MSBT was the only fund to gain, adding $4.49 million.
Ether ETFs moved the other way, pulling in $34.75 million in net inflows, led by Blackrock's staking fund ETHB at $22.94 million. Solana funds also finished higher, drawing $11.73 million, most of it into Bitwise's BSOL.
Ripple's CTO Sees a Long Path to Flipping Bitcoin
Speaking during an X Spaces session, Schwartz said XRP would not need bitcoin to shrink to overtake it. He explained: "It wouldn't happen from Bitcoin shrinking. It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin."
Schwartz pointed to the XRP Ledger's speed and functionality as a driver of adoption, alongside institutional interest, noting that U.S. spot XRP ETFs have attracted roughly $1.70 billion in cumulative inflows.
But the numbers still show a wide gap. XRP is trading around $1.38 with an $86.32 billion market cap, while bitcoin sits near $77,887 with a $1.56 trillion market cap. For XRP to close that gap without bitcoin's price falling, it would need to rise roughly 18 times to about $25 per token.
