XRP dropped 5.36% over 24 hours to trade near $1.44 on Aug. 26, cooling off after a rally that had lifted the token about 43.7% over the past week. Binance's estimated XRP leverage ratio climbed to its highest level since January, a setup that raises liquidation risk if the pullback extends.
XRP traded near $1.44 on Aug. 26, down 5.36% over 24 hours, as traders trimmed exposure after one of the token's strongest weekly rallies since 2024. The token's 24-hour range ran from $1.42 to $1.52, with volume near $3.89 billion. It remained approximately 43.7% higher over the past seven days despite the daily decline.
Rally retreats after 50% surge
XRP had advanced from about $1.00 on Aug. 18 to an intraday high near $1.69 on Aug. 22, a move that briefly produced gains exceeding 50% before the token retreated toward $1.44. That advance pulled XRP out of the consolidation range that had held its price during early August. Even so, the token remains more than 60% below its July 2025 record of $3.65.
Leverage hits a seven-month high
Binance's estimated XRP leverage ratio reached about 0.21, its highest reading since January, according to CryptoQuant data.
CoinGlass figures showed XRP futures open interest near $3.45 billion. Futures volume reached about $6.4 billion over 24 hours, more than five times the reported $1.2 billion in spot activity. Long positioning dominated: Binance recorded roughly two long accounts for every short, with its top traders near three to one, while OKX showed close to two longs per short. Heavily concentrated long exposure can amplify losses if XRP breaks below nearby support and exchanges begin closing undercollateralized positions.
ETF turnover jumps, inflows lag
Trading in the Bitwise XRP ETF exceeded $80 million during its strongest recent session, according to market data shared by Teddy Fusaro. That followed sessions that topped $60 million each of the preceding two days. However, that turnover does not equal new investment: the fund's net assets stood near $494.1 million on Aug. 24. Separately, U.S. spot XRP ETFs drew about $13.8 million in combined net inflows that day.
Technicals stay bullish but stretched
XRP's relative strength index reached 74.29 on the daily chart, above the conventional overbought level of 70, and above its moving average near 60.23. The MACD remains bullish, with its main line at 0.1069 above the 0.0617 signal line. Immediate resistance lies between $1.45 and $1.50, and a sustained break below the 24-hour low near $1.42 could expose $1.30 to $1.35.
