Payment volume on the XRP Ledger jumped 521.1% in the most recent network snapshot, even as the number of payment transactions fell. The divergence points to a small number of much larger transfers rather than broader network usage, and it comes as XRP cools off after a sharp rally toward $1.70.
Payment volume jumps as transaction count falls
The XRP Ledger's payment volume reached about 488.4 million XRP in the latest data, a 521.1% increase versus the comparison period. Yet the number of payment transactions dropped to about 388,900, down 10.5% over the same span.
That gap between rising volume and falling transaction count means the average payment size grew sharply. In other words, the network is not necessarily processing more individual payments — instead, far more value is moving through the payments that do occur.
Other network metrics also climbed
Active users on the ledger rose 179.7% to about 485,700. Newly created accounts increased 5.3% to roughly 1,800, and transaction fees on the network rose 16.1% as well. Still, the picture is not uniform: the number of active accounts fell 0.7% to 11,300, underscoring the inconsistent nature of the data.
XRP price cools after a sharp rally
The activity spike coincides with a volatile stretch for XRP's price. The token climbed from roughly $1.00 to $1.70 before falling back to $1.41. Shorter moving averages sit lower, around $1.12 to $1.21. XRP still trades above the longer-term average near $1.35, a level that would need to hold to preserve the breakout structure.
Momentum has cooled after XRP became significantly overbought. The RSI briefly moved above 80 before declining toward 70.5. The 521% jump in payment volume should not be read as a six-fold increase in overall XRPL usage, given fewer transactions moved the total.
