Solana's mainnet has run for 30 consecutive months without a single network-wide outage, a streak dating back to a February 2024 bug. Official status reports confirm the cluster held 100% uptime through June, July, and August 2026, backed by upgrades to the network's validator software, fee market, and transport layer. Individual validators still log issues even as the network-wide record holds.

Solana's mainnet has gone 30 consecutive months without a single network-wide outage. The streak would have sounded like science fiction to anyone following the blockchain in 2022.

The last outage, and 913 days since

The last full cluster-level outage hit Solana on February 6, 2024, when an infinite recompile loop bug knocked the network offline for roughly five hours. Since then, the chain has logged roughly 913 days of uninterrupted block production. Official status reports confirm 100% uptime for June, July, and August 2026, with the network processing high transaction volumes throughout.

Three fixes behind the turnaround

The turnaround came from a protocol overhaul that touched nearly every layer of the stack. First, Jump Crypto shipped Firedancer, a second independent validator client — running two clients means a bug in one no longer has to take down the whole network.

Second, a reworked fee market replaced the old flat-fee model with a priority fee structure that manages congestion instead of letting the chain choke under load. Third, enhancements to the QUIC transport layer targeted the spam and bot traffic behind several earlier outages.

Cluster uptime isn't validator health

The Solana Foundation itself draws a line between cluster-level uptime and the health of individual validators. Even as the network held its streak, up to 32 delinquencies were logged from specific nodes in one 30-day span — a delinquency means a validator temporarily fell out of consensus, which can stem from hardware failures or software misconfigurations. A 100% cluster figure means the chain kept producing and finalizing blocks without interruption; it doesn't mean every node ran flawlessly, and operators running their own infrastructure still need active monitoring.

Why the streak matters for SOL

Reliability is the baseline that unlocks everything else for Solana — without it, institutional adoption stays theoretical and developer migration stays tentative. SOL sits at the center of that shift: staking rewards, transaction fees, and network participation all flow through the token, so improvements in network perception feed directly into demand for it. Validators must stake SOL to take part, and higher confidence in network stability could draw more validators and more staked capital into the ecosystem.
